The Presbytere. My imagination could only find encouragement in this space.

Home. Our lane on a soft summer evening. The light and shadows welcome us as we come home.

Mighty Little Tree. Sweet, small tree hangs on to its leaves well into winter. The larger trees stand guard over their little one.

This is a photo from San Haven Sanatarium in North Dakota. It was built in 1909 to house TB patients. These places were known as "waiting rooms for death". I entered this image in Thin Line Film Festival Concept Division entitled "I Walk the Line" and it won honorable mention. My concept was the struggle these people went through both physically and emotionally. I received an e-mail from the director of the photo exhibit which made me feel wonderful and sad all at the same time. Message Body Hi Charlene, Everybody loved your photo. It spoke deeply to all of us especially in the category ‘walk the line’. You’re a great shooter with a good eye. I’m sending you the winners list., And you were just one point away on the judges score card from being the co-winner of the category. Please keep submitting work to my contest, and attending our festival. We need Artists like you. Call, text or email if you ever need anything. Al Key Thin Line Director of Photography

Doorway to Hades. The Warden Plaza, Fort Dodge, Iowa was built 1922-1924.. The once thriving, grand structure offered hotel rooms and luxury apartments. There were shops on the ground floor. Due to years and years of neglect; coats of paint peel, walls fall in upon themselves, and an open elevator shaft is a danger. Currently (April 2022) the building is for sale. A note to interested buyers: "Bring your hammer".

Home of the Trojans. Small school districts all over the Midwest have been forced to disband and be swallowed by larger school districts. This is what happened to Northeast Hamilton in 2016. Northeast educated children from Blairsburg, Williams, and Kamrar, Iowa. Their 8-man football team was the pride of the school..

Black Angel. She spreads her wings at Oakland Cemetery, Iowa City. Legend has it if you touch her, you will be cursed, or even worse, struck dead. Made of bronze, a dark patina has transformed her appearance. At 8 ft. tall, she memorializes the Feldevert family. Don't mess with her!
